The Five Brothers Book Summary :

The Five Brothers: Our Journeys to Successful Careers in Law & Medicine chronicles the lives of five African-American men pursuing and conquering their educational and professional goals. "When you're talking, you're preaching, when you're doing, you're teaching," is a saying that simply means it is easier to get the attention of others when you are actually putting your words into action. Phillip Bazemore, J.D., Travis Buchanan, Esq., Dr. Neville Campbell, Judge Carlos E. Moore, and Charles Tucker Jr. Esq., set lasting and practical examples of where hard work, determination and faith can lead. As they go from boys to men, their compelling stories will inspire, encourage and empower readers no matter the age or career path. The Five Brothers, related not by blood but by bond, are fiercely determined to make a difference in the lives of others adhering to their twist to the Golden Rule and doing what they wish others had done for them. Their memoir is a refreshing reminder that no matter what we achieve in life, the most important thing we can do is to remember those who are coming behind us. These five champions demonstrate that sports and entertainment are not the only avenues to success for black males, and as mentors, husbands, advocates, brothers, community leaders, sons and men of faith, they share their experiences with the kind of honesty and transparency that leaves us with doses of joy and hope in a time where not enough of these things exist. Authors include: Phillip Bazemore, J.D., Travis Buchanan, Esq., Dr. Neville Campbell, Judge Carlos E. Moore, and Charles Tucker Jr. Esq., with Mary Flowers Boyce. Book Love Faith Death

Love Faith Death Book Summary :

Cancer sucks, death sucks even more. But we humans don’t have the power to stop either of them from messing with our lives. They enter our lives whenever and wherever they choose to. Cancer is so common that each one of us have known someone who has dealt with the disease; some of us have lost a loved one to cancer. Common does not always mean simple, and it also does not mean we know everything about it. The diagnosis of cancer, regardless of the disease’s curability, is almost always nerve-wracking, even for healthcare providers like the main character of this book who is a veteran nurse. This book is written in first person; the subject is a middle aged woman who had been separated from her boyfriend some thirty years ago and then after three decades when she searches for an oncologist for treatment of an aggressive cancer that she was recently diagnosed, she finds her ex-boyfriend’s name and decides to see him. That brings back the memory of their past together, and she starts going though her old diary she had written some thirty years in the past. Part of the story is set in Nepal (from the diary) and the other part is set in the USA ( this takes place after her cancer diagnosis). The main character of the story was born with ‘Manglik’ cosmic influencer, meaning that the planet Mars “mangal Graha” was in such position in the solar system at the time of her birth that it would have strong negative effect on her husband if she married a man who was non-Manlik (a person born at the time when the planet Mars was not in such position.) What happens next changes the lives of the main characters.

Warrior Mums Book Summary :

One of the benefits of social media is getting to meet the parents of special needs children and adults. I have grown to know and truly admire these brave people. Our solitary journeys have taken many different roads, yet we've all connected on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and other forums. The support we give each other is a lifeline-an opportunity to not only share the joys our sons and daughters bring into our lives, but also the chance to rant about the frequent injustices we meet head on. I am honoured to have 'met' so many fantastic Warrior Mums from around the world, so honoured that I decided to feature some of their stories in a blog series, which I have now reproduced in this book. These mums will inspire you, just like they have me, these brave women who share their stories from childhood to motherhood and reveal far more than they normally would, in the hope their stories will help others.

This book is packed with the tons of high-yield concepts that will serve you well throughout your medical career. It started out as several hundred pages, and was revised over fifty times before finally producing the ultimate gunner review. It holds some of the most commonly missed concepts on the exams. It is meant to supplement the core review books by revealing those high yield concepts that could really push you to achieve your best possible score. What they don't tell you when you're preparing for the MCAT or for the USMLE STEP 1 is that these same concepts are repeated again and again... and again. From the MCAT all the way to the STEP 3 exam. The way the question is asked is more ambiguous as you move further along, but the concept hasn't changed.
